Year 5 & 6 pupils from Casllwchwr Primary School in Loughor, Swansea, took part in the projects first session today, which taught them all about the basic principles of computer science in a fun and interactive way.

PlaygroundComp1Pupils learnt all about the different components of a computer (hardware), data and networks, binary code and programming skills.  They took part in a range of activities, from writing their names in binary code, sorting data and learning the concepts of programming through instruction, utilizing their problem solving and communication skills.

They did this by navigating through an obstacle course in pairs, one being a programmer and the other the computer, as well as through instruction to dance to the ‘Gangnam Style’ and the ‘Moonwalk’.

All in all it was a fun day and pupils had a great time.  Why not take a look at some photos of today’s activities…
